SMURBS participated in the “Workshop of Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service (CAMS)”, that was held in Madrid, Spain, on 28 of November 2017. The CAMS user workshops are an opportunity to learn from the experience of existing users of the Atmosphere Monitoring Service and hear how they apply these data to their work, to meet in person members of the CAMS team and to interact directly with advanced and new users of CAMS products.

The Copernicus workshop brought to SMURBS (via its partner CREAF)  a unique opportunity to interact with private and public sector focusing on Green Growth and Smart City development, and identify CAMS services that fit to the urban perspective of SMURBS.

SMURBS participated in the “Workshop on CORINE Land Cover+”, that was held in Brussels, Belgium, on 16  November 2017.  The workshop was considered as a technical one, providing ample space to a constructive dialogue, on the next generation core product for land monitoring in Europe. The target audience was mainly composed by Copernicus stakeholders community on land monitoring, NRC land cover, NRC land use and SMEs interested in the call.

The workshop was of technical nature, providing ample space for a constructive dialogue concerning the next generation core product for land monitoring in Europe, where SMURBS (CNR-IIA, ISPRA) interacted with EEA, ESA and Eagle group and declared its interest, among others, in the comparison of  Eagle and FAO taxonomies.

SMURBS was presented in the “1st Conference of City Network-Sustainable City”, that was held in the Town Hall of the Municipality of Vari-Voula-Vouliagmeni, Attica, Greece, on 1 November 2017. Network actions, projects, innovative applications and solutions were presented during the conference.

The conference provided an excellent opportunity for SMURBS to liaise with mayors and other stakeholders of the City network association, comprised of 32 municipalities in Greece, to discuss on actual needs and wants and to promote its developing urban solutions.

The ERA-PLANET project will participate at the GEO-XIV Plenary meeting in Washington DC, USA. The Plenary meeting will be held in October 23-27, 2017 at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center.

The ERA-PLANET project will present the latest activities by participating at the European Commission’s booth in the Exhibition area.

The purpose of the conference is to bring together European stakeholders interested in and actively contributing to the Global Earth Observations System of Systems (GEOSS). The event is a forum to exchange ideas and inform participants about work and initiatives undertaken in the context of GEOSS.

The conference is organised by the European Commission and Finish Meteorological Institute.

The 2016 EGM convened on 28-29 November 2016 in Seoul, Republic of Korea and organized by the United Nations Office for Sustainable Development (UNOSD) in collaboration with Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) Korea, Korean Ministry of Environment and Korea University. This EGM brought experts from the developing countries of the mid-latitude regions to better understand the interdependence of water-food-ecosystem in a scientific perspective by sharing respective knowledge, challenges and opportunities to achieve the SDGs in that specific region. It also aimed to build a professional network between the participants to promote further study and active debate on cross-sectoral integration and the water-food-ecosystem resilience.
